What is Invisalign?

Instead of brackets and wires, Invisalign straightens your teeth with clear plastic trays. Your orthodontist starts by creating a 3D scan of your mouth. Afterward, they'll develop a unique one of a kind treatment plan just for you.   Using this 3D imaging, we can create customized Invisalign trays that are ideal for your specific needs. Your treatment duration will vary depending on degree of tooth movement, but though out your care we will make regular checks ups to ensure you get the smile you were hoping for.

How Does Invisalign Work?

You'll start with trays that fit directly over your teeth. Brampton clear braces are removable and virtually invisible, making them popular for children and teenagers. You'll wear the trays throughout the day and only remove them for mealtimes.

The trays apply pressure to your teeth, causing them to shift until they adjust to the trays. Periodically, you'll visit your orthodontist for a new tray set that applies more pressure. This continues until you've reached the desired straightness. Afterward, you'll wear a retainer to hold your teeth in place.

Can Invisalign Prevent Tooth Extraction?

Invisalign cannot repair broken or rotting teeth. However, it could prevent tooth extraction by straightening teeth before serious issues arise, and by repositioning your teeth in ways braces sometimes just can't..

Crooked or crowded teeth are more challenging to clean, encouraging plaque build-up that destroys the enamel. After Invisalign, it's easier to brush and floss your teeth evenly. You'll eliminate bacteria, sugar, and food particles, keeping your teeth strong and healthy.

When is Extraction Necessary?

Your orthodontist may recommend extraction if you have severe overcrowding of your teeth.  Although we try to limit tooth removal as much as possible, occasionally they are unavoidable.  In these situations, we would design Invisalign with "fake" teeth during initial stages of treatment, so you never have to feel self conscious about having teeth removed as part of your treatment plan.   Using Invisalign we can provide you with simulations of how your smile can look with or with out extractions so you can make that very important decision with full understanding of overall plan.

Decaying, fractured, injured, and impacted teeth may also require extraction. Rotting teeth can cause infections, so it's important to seek treatment as soon as possible. Once you're out of danger, you can start talking about Orthodontics.
